Challenges opponents to sign ‘Republican Peace Agreement’

(Denver, CO) – Today, Republican gubernatorial candidate and former US Congressman Tom Tancredo announced his challenge to all current and future Republican primary candidates for Governor to join him in signing his ‘Republican Peace Agreement.’

Tancredo explained that a main reason for Republican statewide losses over the past several cycles is due to negative and often vicious primary election races that leave the winner too damaged to go on and defeat the Democrat in the general election.

As examples, Tancredo pointed to former Republican Congressman Bob Beauprez’s losing campaign for Governor in 2006 and Republican Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck’s losing campaign for US Senate in 2010.

In both campaigns, their defeated Republican Primary opponents irreparably damaged the eventual Republican nominee by, among other negative actions, falsely labeling Beauprez as"Both ways Bob” and shamefully charging Ken Buck with conducting a"War on Women.” Despite surviving their primary elections, these labels stuck like glue and Democrats simply carried the same themes forward to win their general elections.

"I’m running for governor of Colorado to defeat John Hickenlooper and his radical, left wing policies, not run down other decent Republican candidates. If our struggling Republican Party can’t get it together and demonstrate civility toward each other, we will again be handing victory to the Democrat extremists and their out-of-control, disastrous agenda,” stated Tancredo.

Tancredo’s ‘Republican Peace Agreement’, emailed to his declared Republican opponents today, requests candidates to pledge in writing to join him in:

• Speaking no ill of fellow law-abiding Republican candidates and instead direct their criticism at exposing failed Democrat Governor John Hickenlooper.
• Refraining from divisive debates except if Gov. Hickenlooper attends.
• Running their campaigns to demonstrate genuine leadership in reforming Colorado’s broken government and making the case why they will have the best chance at defeating Gov. Hickenlooper in November of 2014.

Tancredo concluded by saying,"I support strong and vibrant primary elections, but reject tearing down my decent Republican brethren who uphold the law. If any such Republican, be it me or someone else, will have any chance at winning in 2014, we must join together today and pledge peace with each other while directing our fair criticism where it belongs - solely at our failed Governor John Hickenlooper.”

Original Press Release - Tancredo comments on secession of Colorado rural counties

For Immediate Release: August 27, 2013
Contact: Jimmy Lakey jimmy@tancredoforgovernor.org
". . . in a Tancredo administration, rural Colorado will be welcome at the head of the table, not locked in the basement.”

(Lakewood, CO) – With efforts continuing in some of Colorado’s rural counties to secede and form a 51st state, and one county considering secession in hopes of joining the State of Wyoming, gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo made the following statement:
"Many Colorado counties will be asking voters this November to approve secession from Colorado. This is a sad commentary on the emerging legacy of the Hickenlooper administration and his out of-control, extreme State legislature.

Both the Governor and the Democrat majority in the general assembly have ignored rural Colorado’s needs on a host of issues from energy, to gun rights, and tax rates.

Everyone knows this secession movement would not be happening if the former Mayor of Denver had not shown disdain for the concerns and values of rural Colorado. Hickenlooper has even claimed that rural Colorado, unlike Denver, is full of ‘backward thinking people.’

I promise that in a Tancredo administration, rural Colorado will be welcome at the head of the table, not locked in the basement.”

Realizing the Dream

Today is the 50th anniversary of MLK's brilliant speech at the Lincoln Memorial. The most memorable line for me defined his dream, and that was his plea for a society in which each person is judged only on the content of his character and not the color of his skin. If we hope to achieve this truly American goal, we must not only reject racial discrimination in all its forms, we must end all government sponsored programs designed to divide us into ethnic, racial and tribal enclaves. A truly race neutral society would not abide discrimination in the form of affirmative action programs, set asides and the myriad of other government sponsored, race-based mandates. There would never be a Black Caucus or Hispanic Caucus or White Caucus in the Congress of the United States. In MLK's America, a person could criticize a black president's policies without being accused of being a racist. In King's America, an immigration policy would be based on the needs of our nation and not the exploitation of racial politics for short-term partisan advantage. In MLK's America, there would be no fear of talking about black on black violence with the purpose of trying to find a solution to this national disgrace. In short, in MLK's America race would never be exploited by politicians to obtain or retain power. On this anniversary, I, for one, pray for Martin Luther King's dream to come true.

Original Release Hickenlooper tours rural Colorado and campaigns at taxpayer expense.

Contact: Jimmy Lakey jimmy@tancredoforgovernor.org
"Coloradans deserve their Governor’s respect and listening-ear everyday, not just in the days after announcing a reelection bid.”

(Lakewood, CO) – This week, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper began his own version of a ‘listening tour’ in rural Colorado. Hickenlooper’s venture out of Denver comes just days after making official his bid for reelection.

Candidate for Governor Tom Tancredo commented about Hickenlooper’s tour by saying,"I find it interesting that Hickenlooper is suddenly heading to rural Colorado and telling them he wants to listen to them. Up until now, he’s done everything possible to ignore these areas of our State.”

Tancredo added,"Where was his listening ear to rural Colorado when supporting and signing extreme gun control measures? Where was his listening ear when it came to putting his signature on SB252? Where was his listening ear when so many extreme liberal policies passed through the Legislature and he didn’t find the courage to veto even them? He signed them all!”
"This Governor has turned such a deaf ear to the folks of rural Colorado that we have several counties wanting to escape Hickenlooper’s Colorado and form a 51st State.” Tancredo continued,"How can anyone forget he is on tape referring to the ‘backwards thinking’ of rural Colorado. I guess he mustered up the courage to venture out of Denver to a part of our State that he finds so backwards.”

Tancredo concluded,"This is an obvious campaign event that sadly is being funded by the Colorado taxpayers, rather than his campaign. That fact alone is another show of disrespect for the people of Colorado. The entire trip is disingenuous. Coloradans deserve their Governor’s respect and listening-ear everyday, not just in the days after announcing a reelection bid.”

The great irony of this is that when a vast majority of these "asylum seekers" are given the opportunity to vote here, they opt for the same big government policies that helped create the conditions from which they now flea. Certainly not unique to immigrants. Look at the attraction of "Obama phones" to the native population.

In years to come I wonder where our children and those of the present day economic refugees will be able to seek asylum.

www.coforrealedreform.com/facts.html

"Special interest groups hope to pass a one billion dollar per year tax hike on Colorado’s families under the guise of education reform. The increase would raise tax rates for incomes up to $75,000 from 4.63% to 5% and would raise tax rates for incomes over $75,000 from 4.63% to 5.9%. This represents a 27% state income tax increase on incomes over $75,000 per year, and an 8% increase on those making $75,000 or less. Colorado’s children deserve real education reform, which, unfortunately, this initiative doesn’t provide."

The news story out of Seattle does not say how many lawsuits the city has endured over the use of those two"offensive” terms. More likely, the notice to city employees is some bureaucrat’s idea of preventive medicine in the tradition of"diversity training.”

This open attack on the use of the word"citizen” speaks volumes about the abysmal level of civics education in Seattle’s public schools. We can only wonder what questions are allowed to be asked when people register to vote in Seattle. Are elections staff allowed to ask,"Are you a resident?” but not,"Are you a citizen?”

Of course, it is entirely logical for the people who wrote and approved that notice about offensive language to also approve of extending voting rights to all"residents” – to avoid giving offense to non-citizens. Should we be surprised if a proposal to remedy that problem shows up on the city council’s agenda?

If is a safe guess that in Seattle, being a citizen of the United States is not a requirement for being employed by the city government. But the good citizens of Seattle probably expect the city’s public schools to at least teach students the difference between the two: that citizenship has both benefits and obligations that ordinary"residents” do not have: a resident can be any warm body physically present in the territory, including tourists, foreign students, and individuals working in the consulates of foreign nations.

We can’t help thinking that if city employees had a decent education in these civic matters, they would surely write fewer inane, stupid, and yes, offensive memos.

For Immediate Release - Hicklenlooper hires additional staff while Colorado loses jobs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 2, 2013
MEDIA CONTACT: Jimmy Lakey jimmy@tancredoforgovernor.org

"His campaign should pay this bill - NOT citizens of Colorado."

(Denver, CO) - Yesterday, the office of Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper announced, via a letter to the public, the hiring of a new 'Senior Media Advisor'. The announcement comes only hours after Center Partners in Fort Collins announced they would lay-off 600 employees.

Candidate for Governor Tom Tancredo minced no words in his criticism of this new hire by Hickenlooper. "The Colorado economy continues to sputter and these 600 employees are only further proof that this Governor has no plan to grow the Colorado economy. The list is long, but we've already lost the jobs at Magpul because of this Governor's policies. And now this?"

Tancredo said, "I would think that with the public announcement of 600 more Coloradans joining the ranks of the unemployed, Hickenlooper would take action to tell us how he intends to revive our Colorado economy. Instead, he announces that he is hiring a new taxpayer funded employee at $130,000 per year."

According to the letter released by Hickenlooper's office, the new 'Senior Media Advisor' will handle "speech writing, cross-agency communication, social media, and other projects."

"We once again see that this Governor has no problem growing the size of government and it's payroll, all while Coloradans continue to struggle to pay their bills and find gainful employment. Even the Denver Post mentions that this new hire comes at a time when Hickenlooper's reelection is no longer a 'cake walk' due to the Governor's bowing to his very liberal
tendencies." Tancredo continued, "As I've said before, Hickenlooper played the part of a mild-mannered moderate in order to be elected Governor, only to reveal his very liberal tendencies once elected"

Tancredo concluded by saying, "It's the height of irresponsibility to hire a taxpayer funded staff member at $130,000 per year plus benefits to help you better communicate why you should be reelected. His campaign should pay this bill - NOT citizens of Colorado."

Last night we had two "Gold Star" families over for dinner.

We met them under the worst of circumstances when each of their sons was killed in action in the Middle East. The families were my constituents. Of courses, some of the conversation revolved around the daily torment a parent of a KIA son or daughter undergoes and some of the services and organizations like TAPS provide. I guess I just want to say that we should remember these families in our prayers even though time has passed since the events. Time passes quickly but the heartache does not.

Then today I noticed the attached preview of a movie coming out in December called "Lone Surviver." You may recall the book. We are also close with Danny Deitz's parents who recently returned from a special preview that the studio held for parents of the Seals killed in that event. Mr. Deitz told me the movie appeared to be a good representation of events.

For Immediate Release - Tancredo Responds to Hickenlooper's Hiding

Hickenlooper's Hiding From Colorado's Families . Has Anyone Looked In his Shower?

"John Hickenlooper is asking all Colorado's Families to follow him out of the plane without a parachute. You first, John."

(Denver, CO) - Today, candidate for Governor Tom Tancredo responded to John Hickenlooper's hiding behind his tax-payer funded spokesperson in order to avoid debating his proposed billion dollar tax-hike on Colorado families.
Tancredo commented, "John Hickenlooper needs to explain to the families and businesses of Colorado why he is supporting a massive and unneeded new tax increase. It's only fair that he explain this to them face-to-face and debate the issue around this State, so they can make up their own minds."
Tancredo's response comes after Hickenlooper's taxpayer funded
Communications Director passed on to the Associated Press the Governors refusal to debate the education tax issue.

Tancredo continued, "It's ironic that John Hickenlooper would refer to this debate challenge as 'political theater'. It seems clear that Hickenlooper played the part of a mild-mannered moderate in order to be elected Governor, only to reveal his very liberal tendencies once elected."

In reference to Hickenlooper's use of 'political theater' in support of a previous tax increase, Tancredo continued, "I once again challenge
Hickenlooper to join me in debating this massively important issue around the State. He may enjoy jumping out of airplanes when he has a nice safe parachute, but now he's asking us to follow without one. You first, John."
The Tancredo debate challenge stands and the Tancredo campaign continues to wait on word from Hickenlooper's office regarding the date & location for this public debate and discussion.
